Clara's Hope was born out of a deep passion for
supporting foster and adoptive families. The idea began
in 2013 when founders Dave and Tami Kromer adopted
their youngest daughter, Clara. As foster parents for
over 16 years, the Kromers experienced firsthand the
challenges of navigating foster care and adoption with
limited support. Two of their children were adopted
through foster care during seasons where resources
and community support were scarce.
When Clara was born with a terminal condition, the
Kromers' church and community rallied around them,
offering meals, childcare, and emotional support. This
experience became a powerful example of what foster
and adoptive care should look like—no family should
have to walk this journey alone.
In 2015, Clara's Hope was created under the umbrella
of Freedom Center Church, and by 2020, it became an
independent 501(c)(3 nonprofit organization. Today,
Clara's Hope has been helping families in need for the
past 10 years and serves 350 foster and adoptive
families across Genesee and Livingston Counties,
offering essential resources, mentorship, emotional
support, and community connections.
At Clara's Hope, we believe that strong families build
strong futures. Together, we are changing generations
through hope, support, and connection.
